4th of July Recipe: Spritz-Spangled Banner Cookie Pizza June 23 2026

Celebrating America's 250th
I have unintentionally started many traditions for our little family. I try to take it as a compliment that my children simply love what we have done before and think we therefore must do it again, but sometimes the expectations of maintaining tradition can be a bit stressful. Christmas, of course, is the biggest offender, but even Halloween, Easter, and Memorial Day pack a punch over here.
By some delightful miracle, the Fourth of July is not one of those holidays. We somehow have absolutely zero must-do traditions, aside from celebrating together. It makes July 4th exciting in a new way — deciding what we want to do each year and who we want to spend it with. Sometimes that is a huge crowd, and sometimes it is just ourselves.
While this year feels big as America’s 250th, I hope you find the perfect way to celebrate with friends and family. Here is an easy (and tasty) activity that you can bring to any gathering, big or small.

Spritz-Spangled Banner: Our Family’s Festive Cookie Pizza Recipe
I discovered the genius party-pleaser that is cookie pizza when a fellow mom broke it out at a Fourth of July cookout years ago, and all of the kids went crazy over it. Adults too! It’s easy and fun to make it your own.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 rolls of refrigerated cookie dough (16.5 oz each)
- Ritchie Hill Bakery’s Britt’s Spritz cookies
- 8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries
- Fresh blueberries
- Lemon juice
- Sprinkles or edible glitter
- Parchment paper
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a 9x13" baking dish with parchment paper.
- Cut both rolls of cookie dough into rounds to make it easier to push down to form a solid crust.
- Transfer the cookie dough rounds to the pizza pan. While holding the parchment paper in place, flatten out the cookie dough with your fingers until the crust is around 1/2" thick.
- Bake the cookie crust. Because the dough is thicker than individual cookies, use the time on the cookie dough label (usually 10-15 minutes) plus another 10-25 minutes.
- Remove the dough when the edges begin to turn golden.
- Let it cool completely in the pan.
- Meanwhile, make the frosting by combining the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and a few drops of lemon juice in a bowl with a mixer.
- When the cookie crust has cooled completely, frost with the cream cheese icing.
- Slice strawberries, as desired.
- Use Britt’s Spritz cookies to form your flag lines, then fill in the flag with blueberries and strawberry slices.
- Top with sprinkles, edible glitter, or other festive toppings!
